Placing implants requires extensive training and knowledge beyond a dental school doctorate degree and requires extremely precise techniques.  They are made of Titanium and Tantalum metal. These metals were discovered in the 1980’s to bond to human bone. Because implants bond to your bone, they are not simply screws, they are medical prosthetics.

Is it true that I can have a new set of implants in a day?

Our surgeons are trained and certified to perform a procedure similar to what you may have seen on TV commercials where surgeons remove a full set of failing teeth and replace them with implants with a beautiful complete full set of bright teeth that cannot be removed; all in a single day. We call this a “DIEM” procedure meaning that it all happens in a single day. This procedure is not appropriate for every patient and must be carefully considered with other options before removing all your remaining natural teeth. Some clinics who claim to specialize in this procedure, will complete your procedure, but then will send you back to your general dentist for “maintenance care”. Our surgeons will work closely with your dentist to provide this amazing new procedure for you. We have been perfecting this procedure for over a decade, and utilize the most up-to-date technology to not only deliver a beautiful product, but minimize the time you spend in the dental chair.

How are our surgeons trained to place dental implants?

Our board certified surgeons have completed additional years of residency training after dental school with extensive, specific implant training. Their specialty training qualifies them to handle all the critical details required for your procedure. Placement of implants requires very precise control and positioning with extensive expertise and knowledge and takes many years to master. Our surgeons have placed thousands of implants successfully over decades, and they perform implant placement daily in our office. Using the latest computer navigation guidance and digital radiography as well as computed tomography (CT) imaging, our surgeons will work closely with your restorative dentist so they can provide you the best result possible as a team.

Is there much recovery time after dental implants are placed?

There is often very little recovery time after dental implants are placed, and patients cannot feel them at all once they are healed (usually in a few days). Many patients return to work the same day or the following day after their procedure. Dental implants can be placed safely and without discomfort either under local anesthesia or under sedation anesthesia. It up to you and the surgeon to determine which type of anesthesia is the best fit for you.

Are dental implants expensive?

Dental Implants are no more costly than other options to replace teeth (like a bridge or a cast metal partial denture), and they are proven to save you considerable costs over the life of the implant compared to other conventional options (such as traditional crowns or bridges) which require frequent replacement over time. Most insurance companies now provide coverage for dental implant placement and restoration, and our administrative teams will be happy to research the specifics of your policy’s dental implant coverage for you.
